Why Does Racial Literacy Matter?

The cultural climate has changed, so we are evolving how we help people heal from and confront social injustice.

It is human that we all are currently stuck in a perpetual ‘deer in the headlights’ situation. You can’t confront injustice without a healing strategy. We need to heal while we fight injustice.

Our work is grounded in 35+ years of research around racial literacy - an individual's ability to recognize and navigate racial stress - and has been found to apply to many identity-based stressors. In the current climate of our nation, it's important now more than ever, to equip individuals, communities, and organizations with the ability to address these experiences when they inevitably arise, no matter what identities they may hold.
